castration of male animal's leads to a reduction in aggressive behavior, which animals will avoid wasting energy resulting to economic production of the animal, grows. it also reduces damage and bruising animals and increases normed meat producing at slaughter. in this study, 20 lambs ghezel breed in four age groups, group 1: one month (n = 4), group 2: two months (n = 4) group 3: three months (n = 4), group 4: four months (n = 4), were selected and by the surgical procedure were castrated.  for comparing the effects of castration on fattening capacity and frequency of sexual behaviors, group 5: one month (n=4) was used as a control group. the glm procedure of sas in unbalanced design was used. five groups of lambs were fed with a same diet of fattening for 270 day. lambs weighing was done after 12 hours of starvation every month. a significant difference was observed between control group and other castrated groups (p

Effect of Spatial Learning on Hippocampal Testosterone in Intact and Castrated Male Rats

Background: Sex steroids and their receptors exist in hippocampus and affect spatial learning and memory. This study was designed to measure testosterone level of CA1 and to assess the effect of spatial learning on its amount in left and right hippocampus of adult male rats. Methods: Sixteen rats were divided into two intact and castrated groups, and then trained in Morris water maze (MWM). An...

Effect of Vitamin C, as an Antioxidant, on Immobilization-Induced Changes in Sexual Behavior and Sperm Count in Male Mice

Sexual behavior in males is vulnerable to stress and it has been suggested that alterations in sexual behavior during stress is concomitant with spermatogenesis dysfunction. In this study, we investigated the effects of immobilization on sexual behavior and whether or not these effects are accompanied by changes in spermatogenesis process. The effect of antioxidant treatment on the sexual behav...

Cytochrome oxidase activity in the preoptic area correlates with differences in sexual behavior of intact and castrated male leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius).

Although the utility of analyzing behavioral experience effects on neural cytochrome oxidase (CO) activity is well recognized, the behavioral correlates of endogenous differences in CO activity have rarely been explored. In male leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius), the incubation temperature experienced during embryogenesis (IncT) and age affect CO activity in the preoptic area (POA), an ar...
